The story opens with a serious car accident which leaves Mike Finnegan with a broken... well a broken everything (Parker 6). Now we won't worry about him for a while. CHARLIE HOOD, the main character is on loan to the ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) agency and is over looking a gun deal about to go horribly wrong (Parker 8). As the situation goes hot, both parties exchange fire, and 2 fatalities ensue. One is a criminal who was participating in the deal, but the other is an innocent boy (Parker 15). The story jumps to a character by the name of Ron Pace, a rising star gunsmith who has possibly developed the greatest hand gun for a criminal. The Love 32 is a select fire machine pistol, capable of firing low-velocity, subsonic bullets on top of already being suppressed, allowing for Bow-and-Arrow-like silence when firing (Parker 24). We then return to Charlie Hood, who has discovered that the boy killed during the gun deal was the son of one of the most dangerous cartel bosses in the world, Benjamin Armenta, who is obviously enraged at the loss of his child (Parker 35). Hood then meets with the now hospitalized Mike Finnegan who somehow knows about the murder of Armenta's son, but gives no information as to why or how. The story briefly jumps to the view of Jimmy Holdstock, an ATFE agent and friend of Hood. He also happens to be the man that took the lives of the gun dealer and Armenta's son. Before he knows what is happening he is beaten unconscious, and kidnapped (Parker 42). Ron Pace then makes the deal of his life when he sells 1,000 Love 32's to a high ranking member of Armenta's Cartel (Parker 52). Not too much later, Hood and a Mexican officer named Luna lead a raid on a cartel compound where Jimmy is being held (Parker 99). After saving Jimmy and returning him to the hospital, he is taken again by Armenta's thugs, the Zetas, a paramilitary ex-special forces group working for hire (Parker 218). Hood and Luna return to Mexico to meet with Armenta and his subordinate, Vascano, to retrieve Holdstock. Luna is murdered, but Holdstock is allowed by the Zetas to leave with Hood (Parker 293). The book ends with Ron Pace and Sharon Novak delivering the 1000 Love 32's over the border.
